Policies

School’s Child Protection Policy

 

It is the policy of the school to:

 

  • Exercise parental authority over the students under their supervision, instruction and custody. Extra-ordinary diligence is required from all teachers in conducting authorized activities whether inside or outside the school.

 

  • Teach them in right precept and serve as good examples.

 

  • Prevent the students from acquiring habits detrimental to their health, studies and morals as enumerated below and must be strictly implemented:

 

  • No smoking policy shall be strictly enforced.

  • Joining of fraternities and sororities shall be prohibited in the school. It is the duty of the advisers to immediately report to the School Head upon knowing of any student participating in illegal organizations for proper intervention.

  • Only wholesome educational materials shall be furnished to the students in support to their lessons and activities.

  • Cases of bullying in any form shall be reported to the School Head immediately.

  • School rules and regulations referring to minor and major offenses shall be strictly imposed.

 

  • Prevent and respond to any form of child abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination and violence. Any incident involving child abuse must be properly recorded or documented and refer the child / student to the proper government agency if necessary.

 

  • In all cases, due process shall be afforded to the offender by calling the parents / guardians for a conference.

 

This school policy shall be effective upon approval of the Child Protection Committee of the School.

 

 

Anti-Bullying Policies

 

I. PROHIBITED ACTS - It is the policy of the school to prohibit the following acts through constant or regular monitoring, reminding and controlled observations during activities, classes and even breaks inside or outside the campus.

1. Unwanted Physical Contacts such as:

a. Punching/hitting

b. Pushing

c. Shoving

d. Kicking

e. Slapping

f. Tickling

g. Headlocks

h. Inflicting harm

i. Teasing

j. Fighting

k. Using objects as weapons

2. Cyber bullying such as

a. Texting negative comments through cellphones and internet means

b. Retaliation by means of intimidation, threat or any physical harm

c. Posting unnecessary comment directed to others.

d. Sending profane/offensive language

3. Verbal abuses such as

a. Slanderous statements

b. Using profane/offensive languages

c. Threat and intimidation

4. Other abuses such as

a. Hurling false accusations

b. Causing damage to the property of others

 

 

II. PREVENTION - Practice positive and non-violent discipline of students

1. Integrating in the daily lessons the value of self-discipline in all subject areas.

2. Respecting the rights of other students must be emphasized during homeroom programs and ICL classes.

3. Name calling other than the student’s name is strictly prohibited. Student should always be reminded that every student regardless of sex, religion, and physical disability has a name and should be addressed only by his/her first name.

4. Provide system of a comprehensive monitoring of the nature, extent and perception of bullying behaviors by proper recording of all cases, including settlements, counseling, referrals and other related actions taken.

5. Include anti-bullying discussions and agenda in every PTA meetings and assemblies.

6. Invite speakers to discuss anti-bullying policies, bullying effects, and measures.

 

 

III. Procedures to address cases of bullying

1. Provide child protection and anti-bullying policies duly approved by the division office to all parents and students during registration.

2. Any case of bullying must be reported first to the nearest teacher who will immediately take action as necessary.

3. Report immediately to the School Head or in his absence, the Guidance Counselor for proper intervention and documentation.

4. The Guidance Counselor or any teacher shall immediately conduct an initial investigation and thereafter submit a recommendation to the School Head.

5. In cases where the offense is grave, the School Head shall automatically take over and immediately inform the parents concerned. After compliance of due process, a corresponding disciplinary sanction shall be meted out to the perpetrator(s)

6. Amicable settlement should be the primary objective in calling for a conference with the parties concerned. However, if the gravity of the offense so warrants, it must be forwarded to the higher authorities or barangay officials for conciliation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

IV. INTERVENTION PROGRAMS

The first ICL class every month shall involve discussions on issues factors and effects that influence the student to commit bullying. In this regard, the school guidance office is required to submit a comprehensive ICL Programs such as counseling, trainings, and other activities on bullying for the whole year.

Records show that eleven (11) out of thirteen (13) cases of bullying has one common prohibited act as the cause/reason in the commission of the offense which is name calling. It is therefore directed to all stakeholders to focus their attention to unnecessary name calling and prohibit the same as required, disciplinary actions shall be applied to all those who violate the same.
