Pasonanca, an agricultural barangay, is situated northeast of Zamboanga City; it is bounded by Sta. Maria in the south, San Roque in the west, Lunzuran in the North and Tumaga in the east. It is a tourist destination with the famous Pasonanca Park, Jardin de Maria Clara Lobregat and a 53 year-old tree house. The total land area is 1,146.6650 hectares. As of 2011, based on the actual survey conducted, the population is 31,259.

Before, the main livelihood of the populace is farming but at present, employment both in the private sector and in government service is the main source of living. It is attributed to its proximity to the city proper.
